Honest Dropshipping

A letter

My dear friend,

Don’t be so worried. I know what you’ve heard about dropshipping; it’s a scam. It’s dead. And it just doesn’t work anymore.

I know how you feel.

Deep inside you feel insecure. Not because you actually are. But because some people on the internet make you feel that way. Yes, I'm speaking about these gurus. It’s such a shame.

But I also know that right next to your insecurity is another feeling. A feeling that carries your dreams. It’s not hope. No. And it’s not motivation either.

It’s confidence. It’s the trust in yourself that you can actually build a business.

The last time I showed up in your inbox was years ago. And yet, you’re reading these lines. You, my dear friend, are the definition of persistence. Please keep this forever with you, it’s rare.

Over the last few years you felt you’ve failed. Remember that store you had where you really believed “this one’s it!”? Yes. That wasn’t a failure. It was a sign. You aren’t meant to run a micro-successful dropshipping store. You are built for more.

But that thing that you want requires commitment. An honest commitment to service.

Serve your customers; they’re waiting on you to make them feel seen.

Serve your employees; they’re waiting on you to lead them.

Serve your partners; they’re waiting on you to create opportunities.

These folks there – customers, employees, partners – they don’t yet know you. But this doesn’t mean they don’t need you.

I mean, they don’t need your products. But they need the feelings you attach to your brand. They need them more than you think.

And if you care enough and serve enough, the products you sell will turn from simple goods into pieces of your brand customers can own. This is the point where the magic happens; visitors become shoppers and shoppers become fans.

Don’t start with searching for a product. Start with service. Who do you seek to serve? Yes, start with this question. Everything else will appear from there.

I’ll leave you with this now.

Make it happen.

Yours,

Tim
